Jammin’ with Jess (JwJ) is a Performing Arts and Music Program for members of all ages. Each week JwJ meets, the program reaches an average attendance of 100+ Club members. It is an opportunity for members to express themselves, shine their talents, and overcome their fears, all in a comfortable, accepting, and positive atmosphere.
After seeing so many of the children and teens come into the Boys & Girls Club with various instruments, placing them down with their bags, along with overhearing the talents of the members singing and showing off their unique talents in front of a select few friends, JwJ was created to become the venue for kids and teens to project their many gifts they had been hiding, meet new friends, develop their self-confidence and self awareness through performance, and just have fun. No longer are instruments being placed by book bags, the members are now playing them in front of a packed room of other children. The beautiful singing voices and various talents are now being expressed and recognized by many.
Every week at JwJ, new and returning members shine their light and demonstrate their hidden talents in a nonjudgmental, supportive environment. Participants play instruments from piano and strings, to harmonica and drums. Club members also perform songs, dance routines, plays and magic acts. The motto of both programs is: Express Yourself, Be Yourself, Be GREAT, and the members do just that. So many kids and teens have recognized their passion for music and are still discovering it. Through the program, JwJ members have been selected to perform at National Conferences, including the Keystone National Conference and the National Directors Conference in front of thousands of people.
