Devon grew up in Waterbury, CT where he was a senior captain for Kennedy High school football team. Before joining the Club, he was a Head Counselor for a sports camp for five years in Waterbury. During this time he developed a passion for working with youth. Devon joined the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield in January 2015 as an intern from Western Connecticut State University.
During his time at Western, Devon was a four year football player winning the ECAC Bowl game his junior year. Devon also worked for the recreation department at Western for four years helping plan and implement activities for students on campus. When he wasn’t working or playing football, Devon volunteered his time not only to the WCSU community but to the city of Danbury. Devon holds a BS in Health Promotion Studies with a concentration in Community Health from Western Connecticut State University.
As an intern Devon was asked to help run the Triple Play Program and helped plan and implement activities in the gym. He worked primarily in the gym where he encouraged all members to be physically active and to get involved in gym activities. Following the internship, Devon was hired as a Head Counselor for summer camp 2015, working with Group 4 Campers.
In January of 2016, Devon officially joined our full-time staff as a Program Coordinator. He is also our Gem Club Advisor, our character and leadership program for our 5th graders. He works with our Gem Clubbers to plan and implement activities in the Club around two key issues: Bullying and Recycling. Devon also runs the Flag Football league which has grown to have over 100 members play each year. In the spring he runs a Basketball league that also has over a 100 Club members who participate. Devon enjoys working with the youth of Ridgefield and he truly believes GREAT FUTURES START HERE!
